About Us...
WOS is one of the North West London's leading amateur musical theatre groups. Our stunning shows keep our loyal audience coming back for more and win us rave reviews - not to mention several NODA nominations along the way! No wonder we’ve got such a fantastic reputation!
WOS (formerly Wembley Operatic Society) is an amateur musical theatre group and a registered charity (1103733). It was founded in 1937 and we’ve produced a whole host of well-known musicals since then to the delight of our audiences, many of whom come back again and again. We perform two major musical shows every year with full orchestra, lighting, costume and scenery. We pride ourselves on the high standard of our productions, and the fact that it’s all down to fantastic teamwork makes it even more worthwhile!
WOS is made up of people of all ages, from all walks of life, but what we all have in common is our love of musicals and a great sense of fun.
Our productions usually take place during May and November at the Winston Churchill Hall, Ruislip. The theatre seats 300 people and is set in its own attractive grounds, which provide the perfect setting for a great evening's entertainment. We employ very experienced producers and musical directors for each show as well as a regular Stage Manager and backstage crew who are very much a part of the WOS family (and many of whom also appear regularly on stage with other local societies).
The Society is a friendly group and new members will be sure of a warm welcome. The social aspect is very important; we hold a number of social events during the year including barbecues, dinner dances, quizzes and of course our infamous curry nights and after-show parties!
